SIEBENBLAU – fabrics without harmful substances
This post is about a real gem!
Siebenblau is the first store that sells eco-fabrics in Germany.
Maren Bartz ist eine Vorreiterin.
Sie eröffnete in Berlin das erste, längst überfällige Fachgeschäft für ökologisch produzierte Stoffe, dass nun [nach dem Umzug] mitten im Herzen des Prenzlauer Bergs liegt.
Betrachtet man, was es in Berlin derzeitig für Alternativen zum Stoffeinkauf gibt, fällt schnell auf, dass Siebenblau in vielerlei Hinsicht einzigartig ist.

Siebenblau ist ein Geschäft, in das man gerne kommt, in dem man sich wohlfühlt und Soffe kaufen kann, die mit bestem Gewissen weiterverarbeitet werden können.

SLOW FASHION AWARD 12
Well hello, colour!!
Quite an unusual sight as I’m working with dark fabrics mostly.
BUT…I am shortlisted for the finals for the Slow Fashion Award 12.
And since the Slow Fashion Agency from Vienna is cooperating with LENZING Textiles for the award, I was kindly given a selection of their fantastic Tencel fabrics to work with.
What you can see in the picture above are the selvedges. They make up all the waste there is after cutting the fabrics.
Keeping fingers crossed for the award!
FASHIONING THE FUTURE AWARDS 2011
This post is a wee bit late but I really want to mention it after all.
I was very excited to attend this year’s Fashioning the Future Awards Show in London 2 weeks ago.
Hosted by the LCF’s Centre for Sustainable Fashion at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, this was a night of great sustainable fashion, very interesting concepts and worthy winners. True to the award’s motto ‘UNIQUE’ there were interactive installations, a very intimate and rather unconventional award ceremony and the persistent feeling that something is about to change in this ever so fast-moving industry.
I was also pleased and proud to discover my name written on the large zoetrope hanging from the ceiling (I was shortlisted for the Unique Design category).
It was a great pleasure to be part of this!!

GREEN DESIGN ARTICLE
It is Fashion Week in Berlin these days and the Financial Times Germany published an article with the title ‘Karriere machen mit grünen Ideen’ in their online issue.
